An engineering degree in Systems or Industrial Engineering is highly desired. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of progressive engineering experience related to industrial / manufacturing. Knowledge of maintenance and overhaul of helicopter components, systems, and structures is preferred. The candidate must have a team-oriented mindset and the ability to provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers and technicians. Candidate must be an effective communicator, and be able to develop & deliver periodic presentations, management briefs, project tracking, status reporting, and draft technical documents. The candidate will have a familiarity with interdisciplinary skills necessary for coordinating any overlapping responsibilities with other technical groups within an industrial setting such as, Facility Engineering, Tooling, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental, Quality, Production and Equipment Maintenance. Experience and working knowledge of LEAN Six Sigma principles is a plus.

The engineer candidate will provide professional and scientific engineering services related to the Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul (MRO) and modification of a variety of U.S. Army and cross-service (Navy, Air Force, etc.) rotary wing aircraft airframes, structures, engines, components, and related flight systems. Recommends corrective actions related to mishaps, failures, performance problems, or other malfunctions. The engineer will liaise between production and engineering groups to oversee equipment modernization efforts and lead aviation MRO process improvements and simplification projects. Initiates studies, analyzes workload, flow, material handling, equipment and facility utilization to plan, design, and integrate alternatives to production processes, procedures, capacity, capability and policies. Assesses situations and identifies opportunities for gains in productivity, quality, and safety; while minimizing costs, hazardous waste and environmental liability. Duties require the use of CAD drafting techniques (AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT) to design improved or new functional layouts and unique equipment solutions. Drafts technical instruction, criteria, and documentation; and coordinates with production groups to develop or revise operating procedures. Further coordinates with external subject matter experts, and assists with market research, justification, and development of written specifications for the acquisition and implementation of advanced technologies.
