To develop and enhance machining, assembly and test processes, tooling and fixtures and manufacturing engineering of valves, components and/or systems with emphasis on hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical products. Assist manufacturing, design engineers, factory personnel, project lead engineers, and/or Operations management in determination of work scope, tasks, and budgets. Provide methods of cost reduction for production and production-related activities. Contribute to the development of producible, high quality engineered products for the industrial and aerospace market as an integral part of a cross-functional team.
Apply technical skills for performance and production problem resolution of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical products and related components with relatively little guidance. Internal and External customer satisfaction.
Serve as a technical contact with internal and external customers, manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, product support, material, and suppliers insuring their satisfaction.
Implement performance, cost, quality and consistency improvements in products and process during and after their design phase.
Analyze data from returned mechanical components and implement improvements to increase the reliability of the components, minimizing the number of returned units.
Analyze data from mechanical components to implement improvements to increase the reliability of the components, minimizing the assembly and test cycle time.
Review and sign-off on engineering changes, and initiate drawing change requests as required facilitating manufacturing and enhancing design.
Investigate problems and determine Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) for quality escapes in production and new products.
Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, work standards and status reports to ensure adherence to schedules and quality requirements.
Establish and verify assembly standards to optimize material flow (Single piece flow, lean manufacturing), assembly processes and cost validation.
Review, refine, approve and coordinate product release Engineering Change Notices (ECN's) both internally and with supply chain.
Prepare manufacturing/production plans standard work and visual work instructions for new designs as well as existing designs to ensure producibility and first-time quality.
Accomplish project objectives and complete assigned tasks on schedule and within budget.
Develop technical expertise on hydro-mechanical, and pneumatic control valves with emphasis on production of mechanical components.
Collaborate with employees, peers and management to determine key goals and objectives, and corresponding metrics, to be completed during a determined period (usually one year). Review and amend these actions as appropriate. Focus on timely achievement of these goals and objectives.
Be able to work in a team environment and demonstrate support of Meggitt lean principles; teamwork, cooperation, respect, and integrity.
Be prepared to work some extended hours, when necessary, to complete a task.
Proficient with Lean, Cellular, and Continuous Improvement concepts, and able to implement them to increase productivity and remove waste.
Technical expertise on hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, components and systems with emphasis on production, continuous flow cells, pull and lean flow manufacturing.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical assemblies that fail functional test, identify root cause and corrective action to ensure problem is contained, and provide standard work visual instructions to enable better process control and variation reduction.
Familiarity/experience with continuous improvement and Six Sigma methodology.
Good technical writing and presentation skills.
Good verbal and communication skills.
Proficiency with computer based methods and tools.
Familiarity with SPC, statistical process control principles and methods
Ability to work well with others in the areas of teamwork and communication.

Minimum BS degree in Engineering, Business or other related field
Five (5) years minimum experience with assembly and test operations of hydraulic and mechanical valves, manifolds and actuators within the commercial and military aerospace industry.
