Process Engineer - Chemical Engineer

Location: Malaysia

Monitors compliance with client criteria as well as all state and national codes and regulations. Ensures that all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable regulations and laws.
May provide technical direction or lead a functional work group of engineers, designers and drafters.

Bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering or mechanical engineeringfrom an accredited institution.  Overall relevant experience in industry or process engineering design equivalent to 5 years for mid-level and a minimum of 15 years for senior-level positions are required.   Alaska North Slope, arctic or production facility design experience a plus.  Alaska Professional Engineer (P.E.) highly desired.


Responsible engineering experience including work in design of process systems and equipment.  Prior experience should include work with process simulation, equipment design, conceptual design, preliminary or detailed engineering and hydraulic flow modeling software.  More senior individuals will have project management experience and will be familiar with API RP design guidelines.


Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management and client groups.
Mathematical Skills:

Comprehend and apply principles of calculus, modern algebra and statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations and proofs and theorems. Ability to apply mathematical operations to work projects.
Reasoning Ability:

Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with non-verbal symbols (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in the most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Word processing software; Excel spreadsheet software; Outlook e-mail software; and any other discipline-specific design or analysis software, as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to travel and work in a remote location overnight or longer, including the north slope of Alaska.  The employee is occasionally exposed to work near mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals and adverse outdoor weather conditions.  The employee is expected to abide by all required safety regulations, behaviors and conditions, as required at the local or remote work locations.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
