Completes a wide variety of difficult engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within one discipline. The Engineer at this level is a fully qualified professional, proficient in the utilization of most engineering theories and practices. Determines methods and solutions for complex process engineering problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the objectives. Applies advanced process engineering techniques and analysis. May serve as a technical consultant in area of specialty for management or the client. Many assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected.
Act as Owner’s Agent to review and approve design deliverables developed by the Architect Engineer of Record (Design Agent).
Provide professional engineering judgment as to adequacy of Process Design and provide recommendations to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
Prepare and deliver formal presentation to senior management and Design Agent.
Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
Proficient in development and interpretation of Process Flow Diagrams, Mass Balance Calculations, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and process skid assembly and fabrication drawings.
Review Process design documents for consistency with nuclear and criticality safety basis documentation.
Perform critical review of Chemical and Process engineering analyses and calculations.
Review material quantity takeoffs, and engineering basis of estimate documents.
Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
Extracts relevant information from design documents generated by other engineering disciplines.
Interprets technology development test reports and reviews and approves plans to resolve technical issues and unknowns.
Review and approve specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
Review and approve design, fabrication, and factory acceptance test requirements provided to vendors for Engineered Equipment; and review and approve vendor submittals including final design drawings and calculations, fabrication plans, test plans, and documentation related to final fabrication and acceptance testing.
Able to access and review CAD drawings and Pro-E 3D modeling information.
