Assist in the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that the company’s environmental,health, and safety practices are in compliance with State/Federal regulations and that regulatory reporting requirements are met. Works under the general direction of the Facilities Manager.
•Assist in updating environmental and safety management documents and plans, including emergency action plans, emergency response plans, contingency plans, storm water pollution prevention, spill prevention, waste minimization and other plans as required by State/Federal regulations or changes in manufacturing process or products.
•Prepare reports to State and Federal agencies, including hazardous waste reports, GPLPE’s, SARA 313 form R, air compliance pre-inspection questionnaires, etc.
•Respond to environmental questionnaires and surveys as directed.
•Conduct waste sampling collection and submission to environmental laboratories as required.
•Assist with Environmental, Health, and Safety regulatory agencies on-site inspections and reviews.
•Maintain understanding and knowledge of current federal, state, and company regulations and policies.
•Inform Kaman organization of changes and administer actions to maintain compliance.
•Assist with Occupation Health Programs pertaining to OSHA required medical surveillance requirements.
•Assist in Environmental, Health, and Safety related training programs designated to increase employee awareness and knowledge of compliance policies.
•Assist in evaluating current or proposed company processes and materials used.
•Perform Job Hazard Analysis, system auditing, and Manufacturing shop floor audits.
•Support the tracking, reporting and interpretation of Environmental, Health, and Safety performance.
•Assist with implementation of Waste Management, Air Emissions Compliance, and Recycling Program Compliance.
•Requires ability to travel to satellite facilities and in-state/out-of-state vendor sites, consultant companies to assist with investigations and environmental health, and safety issues and/or audit compliance. Must be available to work extended shifts, holidays and weekends when necessary
1.Broad knowledge of a technical field such as chemical, civil, environmental, or safety engineering.
2.Some understanding of EPA, OSHA, and DEP regulations.
3.Familiar with hazardous waste management, air emissions, wastewater discharges and safety management.
4.Proficient with the use of a personal computer and related applications such as word processing and database management.
5.Bachelor’s degree in civil, chemical, environmental, or safety engineering required.
6.Minimum of 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment required.
